With the release of Project Honolulu 1802, Today I’ll show you how I deploy Active Directory forest on Windows Server Core with Project Honolulu web Interface.
Project Honolulu
Web-Based management tool slimier to Server Manager on Windows Server 2016.
At this stage Project, Honolulu Is In preview mode however it’s already capable of doing 80% of all administrative task from the Web Interface.
Project Honolulu Is available as part of the Windows Server Insider program.
Process
At this stage of the release, the deployment Is a two-step process, Installing the AD roles Is done from the Web Interface and the forest configuration Is done from the PowerShell console on the Server.
Environment
In my case, I have deployed Project Honolulu 1802 on Windows Server Core Insider Build 17093.
Get Started
From the Roles and Features, I’ll select Active Directory Domain Services
From the top menu, I’ll click on the plus sign to Install role
Next, I’ll confirm Installed components, I can also select If I want the server to reboot automatically
The notifications bar Will show the status of the Install
When done, the message below will appear
Once done, I’ll connect to my Server Core and run the cmdlet below to complete the forest configuration.
Install-Addsforest
After reboot, I’ll run the cmdlet below to make sure the forest was Installed without any Issues
