Two days Microsoft announced that the Microsoft 365 unlimited auto-expanding mailbox archiving will be limited to 1.5TB.
When the mailbox archiving service was announced back in 2015, Microsoft said the service would offer unlimited archiving mailbox storage service for Office 365 E3 and above licensed users.
The change will take effect on the 1st of November 2021, and users will not exceed the limit.
This week we have covered how to enable mailbox archiving using the compliance portal and PowerShell, and we still think archiving is a great feature that any organisation should use.
Microsoft’s decision has sense because some organisations took advantage of the service and used it to store mailbox journaling, auto-forwarding of all mailboxes in Exchange Online, which is not supported.
