Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) is Now Generally Available

Last night, Microsoft Azure team announced the release of the Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) to the public and make it generally available to deploy in production.

The GA status of AKS makes Kubernetes the standard industry Orchestration tool which is not good news for docker enterprise edition.

This shift will allow Microsoft to focus on Kubernetes and leaves other products like ACS to be less important and probably force users to leave ACS and use AKS.

Get Started

To get started, you can follow my previous article about how to deploy AKS in Microsoft Azure.

To access AKS, from the Azure portal search for Kubernetes Services and start the deployment.

It is also important to note that Microsoft Azure is the only cloud provider that doesn’t charge for Kubernetes management service and you will be charged only for the actual virtual machine you run as your Containers host.

For now, AKS is available in 10 regions and 5 continents.

About Kubernetes

Kubernetes is an open-source system for automating deployment, scaling and management of containerized applications that was originally designed by Google and donated to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation.
