PowerShell Core 6 Release Candidate Released

Today, Microsoft PowerShell Team announced that PowerShell 6.0 Core Release Candidate is available for download.

The General Availability date for the public release is January 10, 2018.

PowerShell Core 6 is an open source cross-platform that can run on any operating system and no longer requires the .NET framework which was only available.

You can download the new version as windows Container Image or as a standalone install from the link below.

This release also marks the end of any development to PowerShell 5.1 as we know it and from now on 5.1 will get security updates only.
