This KB will show you how to convert an existing user mailbox to a Shared Mailbox.
In order to complete this we need to use the EMS.
Open the EMS and type the following cmdlet
Set-Mailbox Mailboxname -Type Shared
You can also use this cmdlet to convert user mailbox to Regular, Room, Equipment by changing the type.
