The renaming process will start in early November and will finish at the end of December. This process continues with the consolidation of all the M365 security and compliance services under a single brand name (defender).

Microsoft Defender

Microsoft Defender for Microsoft 365 is a subscription-based security service that is designed to help you protect your devices from the latest cyber threats. It delivers comprehensive defence from malware, ransomware, and other advanced threats, as well as protection from unwanted phishing and spam messages.

Microsoft Defender for Microsoft 365 also leverages the cloud to provide the most up-to-date security, including real-time protection from emerging threats as they appear. It lets you protect your devices simultaneously as a single subscription, and delivers built-in intelligence that adapts to new threats as they appear, giving you added layers of defence against the most advanced and dangerous cyber threats.

Defender for Microsoft 365 uses machine learning to detect malware, ransomware and other threats with higher accuracy, and apply security patches with fewer updates.

Microsoft Defender for Microsoft 365 is available as a free download on Windows 10 PCs.

About Cloud App Security

You can use this product to monitor the behaviour of apps and gain advanced insights, protecting data no matter where it is stored or who accesses it. It also enables organizations to respond quickly whenever threats are discovered.

This security solution is able to inspect traffic in real-time across your entire cloud ecosystem while providing detailed information about sensitive data accessed by users or apps while also giving you the ability to take action when required.

It allows you to detect compromised accounts, encrypt communications with customers, isolate at-risk files before they can be compromised, and enforce multi-factor authentication.

You are also able to set policies for your data in Azure Active Directory which is then enforced throughout all Microsoft 365 services.

You are able to see the activity of any user in your organisation across multiple applications in one unified console so it’s possible to understand security posture across your entire cloud environment.
