Question: How To Create A Reverse DNS zone On Windows Server 2008

This article will show you how to create a reverse DNS zone which will enable computer on your network to do a DNS lookup against an IP address and receive the DNS name.

This is the opposite to a forward DNS lookup which resolve host name to IP address.

To create a DNS Reverse Lookup Zone, Open the DNS manager console and Right click on Reverse Lookup Zones and Select New Zone…

Click Next

Click on Primary Zone

Select option 2

IPv4 Reverse Lookup Zone

In the network ID type the subnet of the zone you are creating the Reserve DNS zone

Select update method

All done.
