Question: How To Check VMware ESX or ESXi Version and Build Number

To check your VMware ESX or ESXi version and build number you can use the methods, one is using the vSphere Client (GUI) or using command line via SSH session.

The first option is to use the GUI, to do so, Open the vSphere client and click on the host you need to check it’s version.

It the Right top panel you will see the the version and build number of ESX \ESXi

 

To use the command line open SSH session to the host and type: vmware –v
