This article will show you how to promote a Windows Server 2016 Server core as a domain controller.

To promote the server to be a domain controller I’m using a member server and use Server Manager.

To start, From my Member Server I start Server Manager

Click on Add Roles and Features

Select the Core Server

Select Active Directory domain Services

Wait for the Installation to Finish

From the Server Manager Tasks Menu click on Promote this server to a domain controller

Follow the prompts

Done

As you can see the Role Is Installed

And If I run Get-Addomaincontroller I can see the DC
