Error -“Microsoft. Policies. Sensors. Windows LocationProvider is already defined”

With the release of Windows 10 Administrative templates Microsoft changed the name of one .ADMX template file contain the same content as a new .ADMX file.

After you copy the Windows 10 Administrative Templates you receive the error below after you try to open the administrative templates section in the GPO.

There are two options to fix the Issue.

  1. Just click OK and continue editing the policy.
  2. Delete one ADMX and one ADML file and renaming one ADMX and one ADML file

To use option 2 and remove the error message open Administrative Templates ADMX and ADML store.

Note: you can read here about Administrative Templates
Go to the store:

C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\en-US

Delete ADMX file:

LocationProviderADM.admx

Next go to the ADML store location at:

C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\en-US

Delete:

LocationProviderADM.adml

Next we need to rename two files one ADMX and one ADML.

Find the file:

Microsoft-Windows-Geolocation-WLPAdm.admx

File located at:

C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions

Rename to:

LocationProviderADM.admx

Rename

Microsoft-Windows-Geolocation-WLPAdm.adml

File located at:

C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\en-US

To:

LocationProviderADM.adml
